This past month, DARLA caught up with Archangela Chelsea Yasuf, an international celebrity makeup artist based in Los Angeles and Indonesia. Her ambition, drive, and entrepreneurial spirit paired with the courage to make her Dreams And Real Life Align, has made her one of the hottest and most sought after make-up artists in 2017. She took a chance as a teen to chase her dreams, leaving home for a new country with no resources. Her skills, abilities, enthusiasm, and positive attitude paved the way for her success.

Since reaching celebrity makeup artist status her work has been seen on America’s Next Top Model, and has been featured in top fashion magazines, including Glamour, Nylon, Cosmopolitan, People, and more. Her work has also been spotted on the red carpets of the Emmy’s and Golden Globes.

Here, Archangela Chelsea tells us about her humble beginnings, how she wants to make an impact, and gives us some great makeup tips for Fall.

Tell us about yourself.
I am a celebrity makeup artist. I started my career when I was 15 and have been growing as a makeup artist ever since. When I was 17, I came to the US to pursue my dream; I had no connections and no friends. Despite that, when I was 19, I got a chance to work in Hollywood. From that moment on I began working in Hollywood with celebrities. I got a chance to work with celebrities for Hollywood events like the Golden Globes, Emmy's, and lots of big red carpet events. My work has been featured in lots of big magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Marie Claire, Women's Health, Teen Vogue, etc.

What inspired you to pursue a career as a make-up artist? How did you get started?
When I was a kid, I liked to paint. One day, my older sister introduced me to makeup and that's the moment I fell in love with it. Then, when I was 14 years old, I asked my mom if she would allow me to go to makeup school and she did; that is where I first started to do makeup.

What is a major accomplishment/milestone you've hit thus far in your career?
…to be recognized as one of the best makeup artists at People's Choice Award 2016 for my work with my celebrity clients and becoming the brand ambassador of a cosmetic line called Lakme Makeup during my time with @makeupbymario.

What do you hope to achieve with your brand — what do you want the name, Archangela Chelsea to represent to the world?
I want Archangela Chelsea to inspire people to believe in themselves. When they hear the name Archangela Chelsea, I want them to think, "Yes, she’s well-known as an international celebrity makeup artist."

Can you tell us about your role in your new venture as the brand ambassador for Lakme?
As I mentioned before, I am the Brand Ambassador for South East Asia or Indonesia and @makeupbymario is the US Brand Representative. My role includes being the brand speaker and doing the makeup for every Lakme campaign. I basically have to be there when there are events going on and occasionally, I also do beauty classes too.

Do you have any skincare advice as we transition into the fall season with colder weather?
Definitely hydrate your skin. Apply moisturizer or jojoba oil to your face to make sure your skin is well-hydrated. Cold weather tends to make our skin dry, so definitely moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize.

What are some must-have beauty products for Fall 2017 in relation to celebrity and red carpet trends?
·      Definitely the Lakme Cosmetics MoonLit Highlight to give you that perfect glow and to subtly contour your face
·      Charlotte Tilburry Wonderglow and mix it with your foundation for that perfect glowy skin
·      Lancome Hypnose Mascara to give you dramatic lashes without any falsies
·      Lastly, Colorpop Liquid Lipstick in Mamacita to give a dark plum color on your lips!

What's your personal go-to make-up aesthetic for an everyday look?
To be honest, I don't wear too much makeup every day. I just draw my eyebrows, apply my Laneige BB Cushion and apply a tint of Benetint from Benefit and I am ready to go!

If you could give a younger version of yourself in need of motivation advice, what would it be?
Never give up, everything is possible when you just believe in yourself.
